Most owners have problems getting there Garrard turntables to run at the correct speed. We have read various articles that owners have added a fridge magnet to the eddy current brake to slow down the turntable. The higher the voltage the faster your turntable will run and the opposite if the voltage is lower. UK and European locations the mains voltages can vary. The UK Voltage has a tolerance of 230 V +10%/−6% (216.2 V to 253 V).
Originally when Garrard sold the 301 turntable if the speed was incorrect you would send the pulley back specifying if your turntable was to fast or slow they would send you back the correct pulley to compensate for voltage variations.
For UK and European users we offer two types of pulley. If your voltage is lower than 240 volts you would require our 301 minus pulley if your voltage is 240 volts or higher you would need our 301 plus pulley.
Example one: If you ran your turntable for an hour and you have to apply the eddy current brake to slow the turntable down and adding a magnet you would need our 301 plus pulley this would correct the pitch control by +/- 1 segment on the dial.
Example two: If you ran your turntable for an hour and you have to release the eddy current brake to make the turntable to run faster you would need our 301 minus Pulley this would correct the pitch control by +/- 1 segment on the dial.
